hello beloved readers. i have had a difficult time creating space in my life to write and post to the blog. and though keeping up on my blog is something i truly enjoy doing, it is a time commitment that needs to be kept in balance with other aspects of my being. for instance, i am still adjusting to the back-to-school schedule. as a mother to 4 school-age children, my weekdays have certain hours of the day that are a flurry of activity and noise and require a complex and precise plan of organization and accountability. i put forth hours of intense effort before 9:30 am. each school day – including my personal yoga/meditation practice, making breakfast, packing 4 lunches and any last minute….”mom! i can’t find my ____”…..or, “mom! can you help me with _____?”…..or, “mom! i forgot that i need _____for school.”
once the kids are off to school, my late mornings/early afternoons (except wednesdays, when i teach daytime yoga classes) shift into time and space for me to send and reply to emails, facebook, make phone calls, run errands, do chores around the house. i also spend time volunteering in my children’s schools. then, by 3pm, it’s time to shift back into school schedule – meeting up with the kids to walk home from school, afternoon snacks, free time, homework help, making sure kids do their chores, dinner prep, family dinner, clean up, baths and showers, down time with familyoga/meditation or a bedtime story or a family movie.
my daily life is so rich and full. and though challenging on many levels, i can honestly say: i am grateful. deeply deeply grateful.
no worries! i will post to this blog again soon. i have so many brilliant ideas for blog posts. i just need to follow through on a few of them. i have drafts saved of blog posts with titles like: i am a mother, a yogini; and i support occupy wall st – my song, 2nd verse – dear 13 year old girls – what do i do with all of this? so…..stay tuned – more good stuff to come.
